Patron of cooks (first century) there are three readings in the bible that tell of Jesus visiting the home of Martha in addition to the phrase from John's Gospel that says "Jesus loved Martha and Mary and Lazarus. " through these readings, we learn of the special relationship that Jesus had with Martha, her Sister Mary and their Brother Lazarus. During the first visit, from Luke 10:38-42, it was important to Martha that she served Jesus and his disciples with hospitality and generosity.
