Oval Mary Undoer of Knots Picture
Available in three sizes.
This beautiful image of the Virgin Mary untying a ribbon of knots portrays her intercessory role in straightening out the tangles and difficulties in the lives of those who call upon her.
The now famous painting was commissioned in 1700 by Fr. Hieronymus Langenmantel in thanksgiving for Mary's intercession in his family. It was painted by Johann Melchior Georg Schmidtner and depicts the Blessed Mother untying the knots of a wedding ribbon. (In those days the bride and groom had their arms tied together during the wedding ceremony as a symbol of lifelong union.)
