Great Missal
I love this daily missal and have used it for the last ten years. Unfortunately, I lost my last copy, so I am buying it again because any other translation I have found is not as natural and conducive to prayer for me, because of the way I tend to pray along with the Mass. _x000D_

The translations in this missal are simple and direct, which I like. I think this is a really good missal if, like me, you can get distracted by translations that use older forms of English, but you also do not want a translation that is too loose or casual. This translation uses the formal Thee, which I like, but otherwise has normal sentence structure and word endings, which makes reading and praying along more natural to me. _x000D_

It is true that it does not have Latin and English side-by-side for the propers, which you might consider if it is important for how you pray, but for me it was not a drawback at all because I do not tend to look at the Latin. Because the translation is so faithful to the Latin, it is very easy to know where you are - even if you do not know any Latin - and pray along in English. I think having those prayers only in English allows for the book s handy size and larger type, another plus to this missal. _x000D_

I think St. Joseph s Daily Missal is great for someone looking for a missal that keeps it simple but faithful.

St. Joseph missal
In response to the other comment about only the canon of the Mass having Latin -that is true -however all St. Joseph Missals were like this. I have several from the 50s and 60s that follow that format. It is how they were able to user a thicker/nicer quality paper stock.

Not What I Expected
When I saw in the print catalog that this missal had a 1950 Imprimatur by Cardinal Spellman, I assumed I would be receiving a Latin-English Missal. As it turns out, ONLY the Mass has Latin-English while the Propers are ALL ENGLISH. I suggest that the description be edited to make it clear that the Latin-English is restricted to the Order of the Mass. I will have to find another Tridentine Missal that has what Im looking for.
