ST PHILOMENA STATUE
Catholic Classic Statuary
Nothing historical is known about this holy woman save that her tomb indicated that she was a virgin and martyr. She is the only person to have been canonized based solely on reports of intercessory prayers and miracles. She was a great patroness to such lights as St. John Vianney and St. Pauline Jaricot.
This lovely image shows Philomena in the traditional image familiar to so many: dressed in a pale coral gown, holding the palm of martyrdom and an arrow and standing next to an anchor, believed to be instruments of her torment and death.
