Patron of impossible causes (1381-1457) as a young girl, Rita was very interested in joining Augustinian nuns at Cascia and devoting her life to Christ. However, at age 12 she was betrothed and for nearly 20 years, she was married to an abusive man who mistreated her often. But through prayer and offering her suffering to God, it is believed Rita saved her husband's soul. She is here pictured with the holy Wound of the Crown of Thorns and holding a crucifix.
