The story of this image is the artist (C.B. Chambers) had stopped by the Church of the Holy Innocents in the city of New York for Mass, and saw afterwards the man pictured kneeling before a life-sized crucifix of our Savior. Inspired he made a sketch to capture such a pious moment. He would later learn this man was a Frenchman who had lost the Faith since coming to New York. This man was leaving for World War one, and thus had come to the church that day to pray for The Return of his faith. A unique piece that is perfect for Lenten devotions, or home chapel.
