Francis grew up in an affluent family but spent much of his youth getting into trouble. He experienced a conversion while in prison and started to live his faith using Jesus as his example.
Francis dressed in rough clothing and preached purity and peace. He founded the Franciscans and lived with animals and cared for lepers. Francis was graced with the Stigmata during the last two years of his life.
